7 Simple Foods That Boost Your Nutrition

We often hear the word “nutrition” and immediately think of expensive diet plans, rare seeds, or imported fruits. But in our busy everyday lives, most of us do not have time for complicated recipes or trendy foods. We are simply trying to manage work, home, and everything else in between.

The good news is that eating well does not have to be complicated. Many nutritious foods are already available in our kitchens and local grocery stores. Here are 7 simple foods that are affordable, easy to find, and easy to include in your daily routine.

1. The Humble Egg for Breakfast

Eggs served as a simple and nutritious breakfast, including boiled eggs and an omelet.

Mornings can be busy. Between getting ready and heading to work, breakfast is often skipped. An egg takes only a few minutes to prepare and can be a simple addition to your morning meal. Eggs provide protein and fat, and you can enjoy them boiled, scrambled, or as a quick omelet.

2. Bananas for a Quick Snack

Around 3 or 4 PM, many people start looking for a quick snack. Instead of reaching for packaged snacks, a banana can be an easy option. It comes in its own natural peel, needs little preparation, and provides carbohydrates and potassium. You can also easily carry one to work or keep one at home for a quick snack.

3. Peanuts for Evening Cravings

When you feel hungry in the evening, it is easy to reach for chips or other fried snacks. A small serving of roasted peanuts can be a simple alternative. Peanuts contain protein and unsaturated fats, and they are easy to keep at home, at your desk, or in your bag for a convenient snack.

4. A Simple Bowl of Dal (Lentils)

Sometimes we look for protein in expensive products and overlook simple foods like dal. Lentils are easy to cook and can be included in many everyday meals. They provide protein and fiber and can be served with rice, roti, or vegetables. A warm bowl of dal can also make a simple and filling meal.

5. Curd (Yogurt) With Your Meal

Plain curd is a common part of many everyday meals. It contains protein and calcium, and some types of yogurt contain live cultures. A small bowl of plain curd can be enjoyed with lunch or as part of a simple meal. If you prefer homemade curd, it can also be an easy option to keep in your regular routine.

6. A Squeeze of Fresh Lemon

Lemon may be a small addition to a meal, but it can add plenty of flavor. Fresh lemon juice also provides vitamin C. You can squeeze it over vegetables, salads, or dal for a simple way to add flavor to your food. Lemon water can also be a refreshing drink, especially on a warm day.

7. Local Green Leaves, Such as Spinach or Saag

Fresh spinach and cooked leafy greens served with dal and roti as part of an everyday meal.

You do not always need expensive or imported greens to add vegetables to your meals. Local options such as spinach and seasonal leafy greens can be simple choices. You can cook them as a separate dish or add chopped greens to foods such as dal or eggs.

Eating well does not have to mean completely changing your lifestyle. Small and realistic choices can make healthy eating easier to maintain. You do not have to be perfect. Start by adding a few simple, nutritious foods to your regular meals and build a routine that works for you.
